The Sculpture Garden
With guidance from Gavin Henderson CBE (former Artistic Director of the Brighton Festival), the Secret Garden was transformed into a sculpture garden. It has been redesigned by plantsman Nick Dwyer and is now run by the Anthony Dale Trust, which has hosted a number of sculpture exhibitions over the years by notable artists including Almuth Tebbenhof and David Breuer-Weil.

Art in dialogue with landscape
Landscape Inspired Sculpture brings together a group of contemporary artists whose work responds directly to the natural and historic character of the garden.
Set among luscious planting, winding pathways and early 19th-century walls, the sculptures explore themes of form, texture, balance and the changing qualities of light and season.
Unlike a traditional gallery setting, the works are encountered gradually and informally, encouraging visitors to move through the space and discover pieces in relation to the surrounding environment.
Below is a selection of images taken of these amazing sculptures in our graden.

In partnership with Surrey Sculpture Society
The exhibition marks the launch of a partnership with the Surrey Sculpture Society. It brings together a diverse group of contemporary sculptors working across a range of materials and approaches.
Featured artists include Abby Martin, Alex Smith, Allan Mackenzie, Ben Nicolas, Claire Nelson, David Paynter, Eve Shepherd, Karen Pearson, Nicci Fairbank, Nick Baker, Rachael Nicholson, Teresa Martin and Terry Merritt. All sculptures are for sale.
The exhibition is part of our Brighton Festival program and is curated and managed by two Shoreham-based sculptors, Abby Martin and Teresa Martin.
Together, their work reflects a shared engagement with landscape, form and material — from abstract and organic structures to more figurative and textural pieces — each responding in different ways to the garden’s unique setting.
